On Kūkahi and Kūlua, the tide is low, but on Kūkolu, the the winds blow and the sea would fill with fleets of canoes. People would fish with poles and women would dive for wana (sea urchin), gather limu (seaweed) and crabs, spear squid and optopus, and poison fish.
